Friendship — Black Diamond Consultants of Gardiner began construction of a new 100-foot U.S. Cellular tower near the Friendship Fire Station on June 27.

The land the tower is built on was donated by the Baptist Church for town use.

The new tower is replacing an older 60-foot tower at the same location.

"It's great for the town as far as public safety and communication," Friendship Fire Chief Kevin Benner said previously.
