Sturks ace highlights recent Rockland Golf Club results

Couples champions also determined in Sept. 7 play

Rockland — A first career hole-in-one highlighted recent Rockland Golf Club play.

On Sept. 7, Randy Sturks earned his first career ace by knocking his tee shot in the cup on the 149-yard, par-3 18th hole. He used an 8-iron and the shot was witnessed by his playing partners Cory and Tom Burnham.

Also Sept. 7, in the couples championships, Becky Gamage and Nick Mazurek finished first first gross 76 playing from the white tees and Bobbi and Dave Andrus first net 68 from the same tees. Playing from the gold, forward tees, Diana and Bob Sommers finished first first gross 80 and Helen and Armand Plourd first net 62.

On Sept. 4 in women's association play, in the A Flight, Jeanne Fifield finished first gross 89; Madolin Fogarty and Arlene Adams, tied second gross 94; and Kathy MacPherson and Becky Gamage, tied first net 71. Jeanne Fifield had the fewest putts with 30.

In the B Flight, Heidi Lyman finished first gross 102; Joanna Schleif, second gross 106; Janice Ogier, first net 70; and Joan Hall and Martha Bouchard, tied second net 78. Martha Bouchard and Janice Ogier tied for fewest putts with 31.

The pin winners were: Arlene Adams, 15-11.5 on the 10th; and Jan Bradeen, 33-5.5 on the 18th.

On Aug. 21 in women's play, the Gayle Kittredge Memorial, a best ball of four net event, Arlene Adams, Pat Ashton, Wendy Dewing and Diane Bryant finished first at 52, while Sue Wootton, Janice Ogier, Jan Bradeen and Bobbi Andrus finished second at 54.

The pin winners were: Diane Bryant, 13 feet 7 inches on the fifth hole; Pat Ashton, 11-1 on the 10th; and Bobbi Andrus, 3-3 on the 18th.

On Aug. 14 in business league play, James Anderson and Mike Bonzagni tied for first at plus-6, Dana White and David Clough tied for third at plus-4 and Joe Cloutier, Jim Stone, Dave McClellan Jr. and Scott Arsenault tied for fifth at plus-3.

The pin winner was: Dave McClellan Jr., 15-2 on the fifth hole.
