Ready for the Storm?
Heavy weather is in the forecast for this weekend. Are you and your pets ready to be hunkered down at home?
Here are just a few tips to help you weather the storm!
If your pet is on any long term medications make sure you have plenty on hand, your vet's office may not be open or may have to close early in case of fowl weather or power outages.
High winds are expected, so if your pet gets spooked when the wind starts to howl make sure you keep your cats indoors and leash walk your dogs, also make sure they are wearing ID and you have recent photo just in case......
Now would be a good time to check food and water supplies. In case you lose power, have a manual can opener ready if you feed wet food and maybe buy a few smaller cans since you might not be able to store leftovers in the fridge.
Have you put together that first aid kit yet? You might want to pick up a few items to get it started. Gauze, tweezers, antiseptic wipes, antibiotc cream, and an instant cold pack will get your kit off to a good start.
In case of a pet emergency call our regular office number 236-2311 to be connected with the on-call veterinarian.
Stay storm ready and when it's over get out there and make a snow dog and cat!
