'Random Harvest' on library screen
Thomaston — Friends of the Thomaston Public Library presents its Friday Night Film Series with screenings Fridays at 6:30 p.m. in the community room of Thomaston Public Library in the Thomaston Academy Building, 60 Main St./Route 1. The theme for February's movies is Tragic Loves.
There is no film on Feb. 8. On Feb. 15, "Random Harvest," a 126-minute film from 1942, will be screened. Wounded World War I soldier Charles (Ronald Colman) has no memory of his past, and when he meets Paula (Greer Garson), he is certain she is the one for him. They marry, but Charles is hit by a car, regains his memory of his life before Paula and loses all memory of Paula. He returns to his wealthy relatives, and a desperate Paula takes a job as his secretary to be near him. This tragic romantic drama is based on a novel by James Hilton ("Goodbye, Mr. Chips") and got seven Academy Award nominations.
Friday Night Films are open to the public and free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted. Light refreshments will be served. The Thomaston Academy building is handicapped accessible from the rear entrance. If there is any question about the movie being canceled due to weather, call ahead to the library at 354-2453 for updates.
