Rockport — Ralph Marston, 91, passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 20, 2013 at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.
He was born in Rockland Sept. 12, 1921, the son of Charles E. and Alice (Small) Marston. He graduated from Rockport High School in 1940 and served four years in the U.S. Army as a Tank Commander in Germany. On Oct. 31, 1942, he married Hazel Dearborn and they were married for 48 years until her death in 1991.
Ralph worked in carpentry for many years and retired from Camden Healthcare Center. He was a lifelong member of the Rockport Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.
He is survived by his daughters, Shirley Beal and fiance Harold Dow of Corinth, Mary Grover of Sabattus, and Barbara Marston of Gray; three grandchildren; Donald Welch and his wife Amanda, Jason Grover and his wife Susana and Angela Grover and her fiance Cliff Conway of New Gloucester; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Sebastian Grover of Bristol R.I., Destiny and Ayden Welch of Calhoun, Ga.; also a sister Helen Chater of Camden; and a brother Kenneth and wife Julie of Union. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews and a lifelong friend Bruce Woodward of Rockport. He was predeceased by a brother Maurice, and a sister Beatrice.
Private services will be held at a later date.
