Raise funds for your organization and have fun!
Plants Unlimited is busy preparing for our third annual scarecrow contest! We are very excited to offer an opportunity for the community to reach out and help all of the local organizations, and to build awareness within our community of all that you have to offer. Below is a copy of all the dates, guidelines, and specifics on our fun and exciting weekend.
Your organization will be given an 8 by 8 foot spot to create your own fall harvest themed display. Each display must include a homemade scarecrow. We will supply each organization 5 hay bales, and you are responsible for supplying anything else that you might need. We ask that you do not make your themes scary as this is a FAMILY event and we want to keep it based on the fall not Halloween. All themes must be set up on Friday September 20 or Saturday September 21st. It is also important to note that your display must be able to withstand the weather, as we would love to offer you a covered space but are not sure if that will be possible.
How does the judging work? During the week of September 23rd through September 30th Plants Unlimited customers and visitors will be allowed to come in and vote for the organization of their choice. Also during that week there will be a featured item of which 10% of the sales of that item will go to the winner. The winner will be announced at 4:30 on September 29th and will receive the cash prize of all the sales accumulated during that week. In addition, your organization is allowed to have a donation can on your display as well so that everyone will be a winner!
In addition to your displays we have many other events in the workings for the final day of judging. Because we want to make this a fun event for all we have included the pumpkin growing contest for children, a food vendor, arts and crafts show, and new this year, we are working with several organizations who will plan some great events for kids with a small admission price. The proceeds of these activities will benefit your organization as well.
After the fun and games we would like to have all the displays taken down by Saturday October 6th. Although you are welcome to take them down immediately after the judging, we would love for you to keep them up longer to promote your organization.
