PUBLIC SUPPERS ARE BACK!!!!!
Beginning on Saturday March 23rd, Aldersgate UMC will be serving Beans, various casseroles, and delicious pies and goodies!! These suppers will run every 4th Saturday of the month until October 26th.
There is one change this year however, the net proceeds of every Public Supper held will now go directly to a different local charity every month. (a listing of which charity correlates to which month can be viewed at our office) The March 23rd’s charity is the Knox County Homeless Coalition. This supper is an effort to help them reopen the Knox County’s ONLY Homeless Shelter. The Hospitality House located on Old County Road.
The Knox County Homeless Coalition steering committee is a group of 13 individuals representing many organizations that meet weekly to accomplish their goals. They have many pieces of the puzzle already in place, such as by-laws, job descriptions, a book of policies, procedures and regulations, and many other necessities. Maine State Housing Authority presently holds the mortgage and the coalition hopes to sign the lease on April 1st. Although there is still much work to be done so that the shelter can be open to guests. The facility hopes to be available on a 24hour- 7day a week schedule.
During this time of Lent the Coalition is encouraging local residents to remember the homeless in the community. To support this effort we offer the opportunity to enjoy a Public Supper together at Aldersgate UMC on Saturday, March 23rd at 5pm. The cost is $7.50 with ALL net proceeds going directly to the Coalition.
Please feel free to call our office Mon, Tues, Wed from 10:00am to 12 noon for more information.
