Guests who attend the first-Saturday-of-the-month public supper at the John Street United Methodist Church, 98 John Street, Camden, are treated to friendly co-diners at the family style tables plus cooks and smiling servers whose only reward for helping out is good-natured banter.  The next supper will be at 5:30, February 1.

In addition to the traditional slow-cooked baked beans, a variety of hot casseroles and cold salads are placed on the tables for do it yourself serving.  Among the casseroles served will be chicken and rice, corn pudding, clam, American chop suey, taco and broccoli casseroles.

Of course, no typical  New England supper would be complete without pies – and there are always plenty of pies, including sugar free choices: rhubarb, custard, mincemeat, cherry, chocolate cream, lemon meringue and coconut to name a fes.

Cost of the all-you-can-eat meal is $8 for adults and $5 for children under age 13.
