Prescott school student art exhibit opens March 6
Washington — The Gibbs Library, 40 Old Union Road, announces the opening of the Tenth Annual Prescott Memorial School Student Art Exhibit.
The exhibit is open from Thursday, March 6, to Tuesday, May 6.
According to their art teacher, Lisa Shepherd, "the students and I have been very busy in art class at Prescott Memorial School and hope to have some good work for this year's upcoming Gibb's Library Youth Art Show in March. We began this work in the fall with a colorful circle painting project in which the students used thick, creamy tempera paint in warm and cool colors to express the vocabulary of lines we developed together. We painted in patterns of circles within circles; the circle being symbolic of community, with whole school involvement in the project. We will then use these paintings as rich background for our self-portraits, some a la Andy Warhol's Pop-Art! Come be the first to see the Prescott Portraits."
A reception will be held for the artists, their families and friends, Thursday, March 13, at 6:30 PM, at the library.
