Preparations under way for Mother's Day 5K

Rockland — This year the Oceanside Boosters held an art contest for the design of this years’ race T-shirt and announced the winner May 5.

Oceanside sophomore Jenny Carter submitted the winning design and will receive $50, a T-shirt and will be honorary race starter for the Mother’s Day 5K.

On Sunday, May 11, the free kids fun run is at 8:30 a.m., Mother's Day race is at 9 a.m.

Registration is $20 online at Active.com until Friday, May 9. Register day of for $25.

Course starts at Oceanside High School in Rockland, travels up Cedar Street to Lawn Avenue extension, down Lawn Avenue, cross Broadway and run to Talbot Street to Lincoln Street. Turn onto Limerock Street, at light take Broadway all the way back to the high school.

Oceanside Booster’s hosts the Mariner Mother’s Day 5K as a fundraiser for the club, which supports extracurricular activities at Oceanside High School. The Boosters have raised and contributed more than $20,000 in the past two years to various club, teams, facilities, and activities at Oceanside.
