Pottery’s diversity at CRAFT

Jul 26, 2014
George Pearlman’s “Squat Vase” is part of the pottery focus in August at Rockland’s CRAFT Gallery.

Rockland — CRAFT Gallery will showcase new pottery works by Autumn Cipala, Lissa Hunter, Hanako Nakazato, George Pearlman and Simon van der Ven beginning First Friday, Aug. 1, and continuing through Sept. 4.

The impact of each potter's work lies in the details that are distinctive and personal to each artist and ties the work to its maker. The ceramic artworks, as well as painted "portraits" of ceramics by Dudley Zopp, make reference to the artist's hand and the connection to vessels that contain and serve man's needs. The Jar Series in oils by Zopp was inspired by the unusual vessels she saw in Spain. The gallery presents ceramics as works of art and expressions of diverse and human gesture.

CRAFT is located in the courtyard at 12 Elm S. Hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, call 594-0167 or visit craftonelm.com.
