On Saturday, July 21, a male suspect entered Camden Rite Aid pharmacy on Elm Street demanding drugs, according to a press release from Detective Curt Andrick of Camden Police Department.

The suspect was described to police as wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a blue bandana covering his face. The man is approximately 30 to 40 years old, 5-feet, 8-inches tall, with a medium build. According to the release, the man was wearing blue jeans and work boots.

Due to the enhanced security measures already in place at Rite Aid, the suspect was not able to obtain any drugs during the robbery attempt. There were several witnesses that gave the police an accurate, consistent description of the suspect.

The suspect fled the store on foot. There are leads in the case which are being pursued, Andrick said.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call Camden Police Department at 236-3030 and request to speak with Detective Curt Andrick.

@Harley-There's a whole lot more to methadone treatment than giving your kid a "cookie". I doubt if it's the people in a methadone program who are the ones trying to steal drugs from rite-aid. But they are easy targets.

I agree the pharmacies need better security for safety of their stash, I also agree that the growing drug problems are leading to all of these pharmacy hold ups, I do have to disagree with Mr. Colwells blaming  the fact that the clinics coming to the area CAUSES the increase in these hold ups. I won't disrespect nor insult him as I feel he did me, as I am a recovering drug addict. Pain medicine was the ONLY narcotic that I actually needed, not wanted. I have chronic pain and when I was unable to get to a clinic for help, because you needed to travel so far, I never held up anyone but I did steal and lie and sell things I wish I had now, my other addictions I have fought through lessons and help, Are alcoholics morons too? If you do a little research I think you'll find the ones doing these hold ups are the ones NOT seeking treatment from these clinics. I won't say everyone uses the help the way it's suggested, I'm sure there's some that share, but I have been clean from all my street drugs for going on 8 yrs and I use methadone maintainance for my pain from working 10 yrs on a lobster boat with bad knees and a bad back and I will not be insulted or feel ashamed because I choose to get the meds I need the legal way now. I was not a heroin shooter if thats what you think of us all, but I've worked very hard to turn my life around and it has kept this moron as you called me out of jail as well as my grave and I am very grateful for that. Please do a bit more research before insulting people, not every addict is the same, just like every drinker does'nt have to be an alcoholic but we've all seemed to let that slide, drunk drivers kill more people than drug addicts I'm pretty sure, maybe they need to take that off the shelves too! Lets not forget about that issue. I hope I have'nt offended or disrespected anyone, I just thought someone who's been in that dark place should defend a clinic that helped me when I needed it, because I am a back to the person I used to be before addiction got ahold of me, and support is what helps, not insults and name calling.

I know how the old timers would have taken care of robbers.

With all the friggin' technology today, you'd think they'd have better cameras. I mean, we have hi-definition and zoom lenses. Even still cameras that can take very good photos that, when enlarged, reveal pores in your skin. For a few bucks more, invest in it.

This nonsense never used to happen until Turning Tide invited all of these morons into the Mid Coast area. Now we seem to need to invite more of them with TWO methodone clinics???! If your kid kept getting in trouble for stealing from the cookie jar, you wouldn't just give him his own cookie jar to save trouble, you'd ground him!

Now perhaps the news will spread that there are better security measures and it will put an end to these incessant robberies. I feel sorry for the people who work there, having to deal with this all the time.
