Poetry flash mob in Rockland
Rockland — Main Street is bustling this time of year and Rockland Poet Laureate Carol Bachofner took advantage of that Aug. 9 by organizing a poetry flash mob. At 1:30 p.m., a number of local poets stationed along the downtown’s several blocks began distributing poems on paper, encouraging the recipients to read them, keep them or pass them on.
“This is part of my plan to take poetry to the people,” said Bachofner, who was named the city’s second Poet Laureate the end of April.
Another plan she has is the development of a Writers in the Schools program (WITS). She will be working with Oceanside High School (East and West) this fall.
