Rockland — The 2013-2014 Metropolitan Opera’s Live in HD season of broadcasts from Lincoln Center to the Strand Theatre, 345 Main St., continues Saturday, March 15, at 1 p.m. with Massenet’s “Werther.” An encore broadcast is scheduled for Tuesday, March 25, at 1 p.m.

The new production is directed and designed by Richard Eyre and Rob Howell, the same team that created the Met’s recent hit production of “Carmen.” Goethe’s revolutionary romance stars Jonas Kaufmann as the tragic poet undone by obsession; and French mezzo-soprano Sophie Koch, in her Met debut as Charlotte. Koch sang Charlotte opposite Kaufmann at the Paris Opera in 2010 and at the Vienna State Opera in 2011. Rising young maestro Alain Altinoglu will take the podium.

Approximate running time is three and a quarter hours. Tickets are $27, $15 for students, on sale now. Encore tickets are available day-of-show for $23/$5.
