Pints for Paws for P.A.W.S.
Camden — Pints for Paws, a benefit for the P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center, will be held Wednesday, Sept. 19 at the Smokestack Grill on Mechanic Street from 5 to 8 p.m. The evening will be filled with music, raffle prizes and giveaways with 100 percent of the proceeds from the raffle going to the shelter, as well as $1 from every pint sold.
Attendees of all ages are welcome and are asked to bring an item to donate to the shelter — canned dog or cat food, paper towels, gallons of bleach, old towels or blankets, etc. Due to the location, pets are not allowed.
Providing the tunes will be Paddy Mills of Owls Head, who has been entertaining throughout the state of Maine for many years. His songs are best described as rural contemporary groove folk and his quirky storytelling between and during songs leaves audiences feeling like old friends.
“We are excited to be able to host such a great event and will be donating $1 from every pint sold to P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center. The Smokestack Grill encourages other local businesses to donate prizes to the raffle, too. Every little bit helps,” said Colleen Wellman, manager of the Grill.
Smokestack Grill is located in the historic Knox Mill, right next to the Camden Loyal Biscuit Co. at 39 Mechanic St. Pints for Paws is sponsored by the Loyal Biscuit Co., with locations in Camden, Belfast and Rockland, recently named the 2012 Best Maine Pet Store by Downeast Dog News.
“We have had great success with this event in Rockland, raising over $5,500 for the HSKC in three events. We are hoping … we will have the same success for the P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center. Pints for Paws is really just a fun, social night out to benefit a great organization,” said Heidi Vanorse Neal of the Loyal Biscuit Co.
Lisa Dresser, administrative director of P.A.W.S., said the shelter is grateful to both Loyal Biscuit the Smokestack Grill. Proceeds from this event will go directly to the animals by providing food, shelter, veterinary care and a chance for a new home, she said.
