Photo contest deadline looms
Newcastle — Deadline for Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association's fifth annual People’s Choice photography contest, open to all who want to share their favorite images from the Sheepscot Watershed, is Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Cash prizes will be $100 for first place, $50 for second and $25 for third. The winning photographs will be determined by popular vote of those attending SVCA’s fifth annual Champagne on the Sheepscot fundraising event Saturday, Sept. 14. The winners will be announced that evening.
Each person may submit two photographs of any subject so long as it is in the Sheepscot watershed, which encompasses 320 square miles in Midcoast Maine from Montville to Georgetown. Each photograph (ideally 8-by-10 inch format) must be mounted on 9-by-11 inch foamcore (3/16-inch thick) and preferably shrink-wrapped. Thanks to the generosity of Artsake Framing in Damariscotta, 155 Main St. in the back parking lot under The River Grill, entrants may get their photos mounted and shrink wrapped for a reduced rate of $5.
The title of the image and the photographer's name, address, phone number and email address must be printed legibly on the back. Entries must be received by 4 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association office at 624 Sheepscot Road, Newcastle, ME 04553; or at Artsake Framing. All images may be used by SVCA, with attribution. For more information, call 586-5616.
