Pervasive humming sound in Rockland this evening, or anytime.
Revision: We have "surround sound" here. Manufacturing is important, as are the jobs they create. In case anyone has forgotten this, we're living in the 21st century now. The fact of the year does not equate with demonstrable progress. We are alive in the future that was predicted. Let's leave this century to return to a time - it seems but a speck of time - when mitigating some problems that were shown to be damaging, could be accomplished without going to extremes. In this case, incessant noise can be mitigated by taking simple measures.
I originally wrote, as in the following, that I only mentioned FMC for directional purposes, because in this particular instance, I could not be 100% certain of the source. Here's the thing - we can fix what is known and fixable without having a cat in the process. Why wait/pretend/try to ignore -- for years, decades.... it's not that difficult.
It's been going on for several hours. It seems to be coming from the direction of FMC, but I only mention FMC for directional purposes. I've closed the windows. I'm guessing it could be an industrial fan? That I can hear it over the sound of the refrigerator is saying something. Anybody else doing something quiet at home or outside and can hear this thing? I've heard it only in the past couple months, intermittently. It's windy tonight, but this new humming is heard on calm nights. Tonight, it's very bad. Anyone else? Whatever it is, some kind of muffler or whatever it would take would be much appreciated. Thank you.
PS The humming stopped around midnight or so.
