Rockport — The Penobscot Bay YMCA Sailfish are enjoying another stellar season, competing in a number of early-season youth swimming meets thus far, including on Saturday, Dec. 7 against the always-talented Long Reach Swim Club of the Bath Area Family YMCA.

"This was probably one of our best dual-meets ever and our kids swam like champs," said Sailfish coach Hodding Carter. "Long Reach, the perennial state champs and largest team in Maine, came looking for a showdown and they got one, especially in the girls division, where we actually won more individual races than they did. While our girls did end up losing by a slim margin, it was only because of a few unfortunate absences. And our boys, outnumbered 2 to 1, held their ground and then some, winning the crowd-pleasing sprint events in every age group. I think our message was as clear as a perfectly chlorinated pool: Long Reach's reign is nearing its end."
