Pen Bay Medical Center maintains preferred status
Rockport — Pen Bay Bay Medical Center is a preferred hospital, maintaining its status from the Maine Municipal Employees Health Trust.
Pen Bay continues to earn better or above average in the methodology established by the MMEHT.
The Maine Municipal Employees Health Trust provides high quality employee benefits to more than 450 municipalities, counties, special districts and non-profit organizations throughout Maine. The MMEHT is a self-insured multiple employer welfare arrangement covering more than 20,000 active employees, retirees and their dependents in its eight medical plan options. To fulfill this mission, the MMEHT is committed to supporting the delivery of appropriate healthcare services, controlling the cost of care and improving participants’ health.
Pen Bay Medical Center is one of 19 higher performing (preferred) hospitals in Maine participating in MMEHT to provide cost-effective, quality employee benefit programs and superior services for its employees. Maintaining the preferred status represents a significant savings to the people who are insured by the MMEHT and will provide them a discounted out-of-pocket co-payment when they are treated at Pen Bay.
MMEHT uses quality scoring that is aligned with the Maine Health Management Coalition’s quality scoring which focuses on patient safety, effectiveness of care and patient experience. These scores which incorporate comparative cost into the criteria used for hospital ranking are publicly posted on the Maine Health Management Coalition’s website, getbettermaine.org.
