Coming up are two great fundraising events we think know you will all enjoy:

Mark your calendar for 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, for Pints for Paws at The Smokestack Grill in Camden. Enjoy live music from Paddy Mills and enter yourself for the chance to win some fabulous raffle prizes and giveaways. Best of all, The Smokestack Grill will donate $1 to PAWS for every pint sold. Guests are encouraged to bring an item to donate to the shelter, and some of the things we always need are non-clumping cat litter, canned cat food, paper towels, paper plates, bleach and laundry detergent. Stop by and help support your local animal shelter — us!

During Shop for the Cause (the Cause is PAWS) on Saturday, Sept. 22, local businesses in Camden and Rockport that are participating in this one-day event will donate a percentage of their sales to PAWS. Visit pawsadoption.org for a list of participating businesses. Then shop until you drop and help support your local animal shelter — as we said, us!

During our Back-to-School sale, adoption fees for all cats and kittens will be half price until Sunday, Sept. 9. We have lots of cats and kittens waiting for their “fur-ever” homes, and we’ll bet there are one or two with your name written in their eyes.

Why are these cats smiling? Virginia and Vincent are siblings that would love to go home together. Virginia is very social, but her brother, Vincent, needs a little coaxing. Not too much, as you can tell from the expression on his face that he is eager to love and be loved.

Looking for a declawed cat? Meet our lovely Luna, a sweet older cat that is always dreaming of a home of her own. We think Luna is about 8 years old, and we know she loves to sit quietly and watch the birds fly by.

We are still desperately in need of foster families for kittens that are too young to be in the shelter and would benefit from being in a home. If you can open your heart and your home for a few weeks and help take care of these tiny treasures, we need you. We’ll supply everything you’ll need for their care, and you’ll supply all the love and kisses these babies need to grow into social, loving cats. Please call the shelter at 236-8702 to be added to our list.
