If you haven’t already, mark your calendars for Wednesday, Sept. 19, for Pints for Paws at The Smokestack Grill in Camden. The shelter is full of wonderful cats and dogs who are waiting to find “fur-ever” homes. We try to showcase some of them in this column in hopes that they will be adopted. Some cats are here for only a couple of weeks, and some for a couple of months, but a few have been here for many years. The next time you stop by, ask a staff member to introduce you to Carrie, a sweet torti who has called the shelter her home for the last 12 years. Carrie was found abandoned in a car as a young kitten and brought to the shelter. When she arrived, she was scared and not too sure about trusting people. She was adopted once but was brought back because she was scared. Fast forward to now, and Carrie is still here calling Room 3 her home. She spends most of her time curled up on a soft blanket or up on the shelf looking out the window. She doesn’t mind if you brush her, and she definitely loves to eat canned cat food. So what we want to know is, why hasn’t anyone adopted her? Is it because she didn’t trust people when she was younger? Did she hide from potential adopters? We don’t have the answer. All we know is that she a sweet and kind older cat who deserves a second chance for a home of her own.

On our Wish List: non-clumping cat litter, dry cat food and cat and dog toys.
