PAWS: Holiday Pet Packages welcome

Dec 04, 2012
Colin and the care package

It’s that time of year again for the Holiday Pet Packages at Hannaford in Camden.  Collin has designated himself as inspector of all the bags that reach the shelter, and he’s very pleased to announce that every bag includes the items his staff at the shelter uses each day as well as canned food for him and all his friends. Hannaford has been doing this for us for years, and we can never thank the people there enough, especially our faithful friend manager Bob Josselyn, and all of you who buy the bags to donate to the shelter every holiday season. Your friendship and your goodwill are what make this season, and every season, special for all of us, two and four feet alike. So here is a big paws up to everyone.

Oreo is one of the dogs who is also thankful for the yummy canned dog food in the Holiday Pet Package. This sweet boy is about one-and-a-half years old and as smart as the proverbial whip. He’s a gorgeous Border collie, which explains his extremely high IQ, and he’d love to have a job to do, like learning agility tricks or how to balance a treat on his nose. He’s great with other dogs and loves everyone. And everyone loves him, so don’t wait too long to make his acquaintance.

Felix is just about the handsomest chiaroscuro cat we’ve ever seen, and he certainly has some of the most elegant whiskers to go with his dignified personality. He’s a happy cat too, content to sit patiently in his room waiting for the right person to come along. The right home for Felix won’t have dogs and he’ll thrive with peace and quiet.

The Christmas stockings are hanging by the cat doors, and the cats inside — the cat rooms, not the stockings — are hoping they’ll get filled with toys and treats.  The dogs are hoping that Santa will fill their stockings too, maybe with a little help from you. Stop by the shelter and put a toy or treat in some of the stockings and give our lovely residents here at PAWS a very merry Christmas.

Wish list items: non-clumping cat litter,  bleach, garbage bags, window cleaner and laundry detergent. You can drop off items during our business hours or leave them in the foyer.

Please stop in and see us and all our beautiful beasts at 146 Camden St. in Rockport. We’re open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and pawsadoption.org is never closed! Be sure to check us out on Facebook. And thank you, as always, for your caring and support.
