PAWS: Come see sweet Burt and try not to fall in love

Jan 22, 2013
Burt

Our sweet Burt is looking for someone who will give him lots of attention. How could you not love this handsome chap with one beautiful blue eye and one gorgeous green eye? If you’re not seeing him in color, stop by the shelter and see for yourself. We think the eyes have it!

We wonder why Joel has been at the shelter so long. This extra-special boy needs a home of his own with people to love him (he’ll love right back, believe us!), spend lots of playtime with him, find the biggest stick around for him to chew and give him a little — alright, we admit it, now and then a lot — of help with his manners. Joel thinks everyone he meets wants to be greeted with a big wet kiss. We know that’s not for everyone, just almost everyone, and he’s learning how to tell the difference. Look for Joel to be out and about in Camden on Saturdays when our volunteer Diane takes him, and all of the shelter dogs, on a nice long walk. Better yet, stop in the shelter today and meet this great guy.

Speaking of volunteers, we should say thank you much more often to our wonderful Saturday dog walker Diane. Diane comes faithfully every weekend to give the dogs at PAWS a break from the hustle and bustle of the shelter. You’ll see her walking in downtown Camden to make sure the dogs get lots of exposure, which helps them get adopted faster. She takes them into stores, and the way we hear it the dogs are ecstatic when they get to go to Loyal Biscuit and pick out a treat! Diane doesn’t have to spend her Saturdays hanging out with shelter dogs, but she knows how much it raises their spirits. Thank you again, Diane, for all you do for our residents at PAWS.

We hope you are among the many people enjoying our community dog park. It’s a real treat to see how many dogs are getting a chance to run around and just be — dogs!

This week we are in need of bleach, large cotton balls, kitchen trash bags and Meow Mix canned cat food (for our primo- and primadonnas who will eat nothing else).

Please remember that at PAWS giving is not a season but a year-round activity, so stop in to see us and lose your heart to one of our friendly four-leggers at 146 Camden St. in Rockport. We’re open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and pawsadoption.org is never closed! Be sure to check us out on Facebook. And thank you, as always, for your caring and support.
