PAWS: A visit to the shelter is the best way to find that 'fur-ever' friend
We believe that there is a home out there for every single shelter cat and dog. And we know that the perfect companion, feline or canine, is waiting for you to make the connection.
If we could, we’d list every one of our darling denizens. But space and common sense prevail, so we can give you only glimpses of the wonderful creatures who are waiting patiently — and too often too long — for a home. So if you don’t see your companion here this week, look again next week. Or, better yet, stop by and see them all.
Sheeba is ready to put her best paw forward and be the most awesome dog imaginable. Sheeba came to us as a stray, so we’re not sure how old she is, but she loves to play, go on walks and have her belly rubbed, and we’d guess she’s around 2 or 3 years old. Sheeba recently spent some time out in the shelter lobby, where she was very curious about the cats roaming around there and even frightened of a couple of them. Sheeba would love a home with someone who’ll give her lots of belly rubs and play ball with her. She has one request: If you come to the shelter to meet her, make sure you ask to meet her outside, as she prefers to meet people away from the noisy kennel area.
Our courageous Cody is still here waiting for his “fur-ever” home. Don’t tell this brave little guy that he’s 8 years old. He’s full of sparkle and shine and enough energy to play until the cows come home. If his new owners have a fenced-in yard, that would be the icing on the cake. He doesn’t mind sharing a home with cats or people, but if there’s another dog, Cody would prefer to meet the dog first. He can be very particular about whom he wants to be friends with!
Is your ideal cat declawed? Say no more, but come and meet Luna right away. This beautiful girl is 8 years old, friendly and laid back, and with such a great personality that you’ll want to take her home on the spot.
Don’t forget “Shop for the Cause” this Saturday, Sept. 22. More than 40 stores in Camden and Rockport are participating in this one-day shopping event, so you can get an early start on your holiday shopping and give the shelter a helping hand, as each business will donate a portion of the day’s proceeds to PAWS. On Saturday morning stop by our pop-up tent in Camden’s Village Green for information. Or pawsadoption.org, for a list of local businesses taking part in the fun day.
On our wish list: paper towels, non-clumping cat litter, Purina kitten food and canned cat food. Thank you for thinking of us!
Please stop in and see us and all our loving hearts at 146 Camden St. in Rockport. We’re open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and pawsadoption.org is never closed! And thank you, as always, for your caring and support.
