PAWS: A cat you can drool over, or vice versa

Dec 25, 2012
Walter

Looking for a laid-back cat? Don’t mind a little drool challenge? Well then, Walter would love to meet you. When Walter came to us as a stray, he had obviously suffered some sort of injury to his mouth. And after a trip to Camden Hospital for Animals, he’s as good as new again and waiting patiently for someone to take him home. He is definitely a lounge cat, with very little interest in being super-active and would take a cat nap over a mouse chase any day.

Isabelle is a doll. This sweet boxer is looking for a special someone to take her home. Isabelle has a request for her new owners: she wants to be the only animal in the house. And she isn’t awfully fond of chickens either. But if you want a darling who is a real love bug and ecstatic every time you come home, Isabelle could be your girl.

Don’t forget that our splendid new Jean H. Kislak PAWS Community Dog Park is now open! We’ve seen a bunch of canines running around there already and from where we sit they were having a tail-wagging good time. The park is open from sun-up to sundown, so you have lots of opportunities to get over there and let your dog run free. All we ask is that you follow the rules that are posted. We hope this will be a fun place for your dog to run around and play with other dogs.

We’re looking for people to help us take our cats to the three local banks that love to have cats or kittens hang out for the day in their lobby. This also helps with finding them homes: Most of our adoptions come from the banks. You’ll pick up the cats at the shelter in the morning, take them to the banks and then bring them back to the shelter at the close of the banks’ business day. This is a great way to help our fabulous felines find their “fur-ever” homes.

Big wish list: We’re always in need of non-clumping cat litter and canned cat food. Cleaning litter boxes and feeding our four-footed family are daily things at PAWS, and we don’t like to think what would happen if we ran out of litter or food!

There are still some items left from our action, so now that you’ve given everyone presents, visit our website at pawsadoption.org and pick up a gift for yourself.

Remember our New Year’s resolution? The best possible gift any of our sweet babies could get, and the best start to a new year, would be a home of their own. We have so many lovely cats and dogs who are just longing for a home and a family of their own. Look into your heart, and then your home, and see if there’s room for one of our darlings. This is one investment where the returns are a thousandfold and never diminish.

So before the year is out, please stop in and see us and all our beautiful beasties at 146 Camden St. in Rockport. We’re open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, our phone number is 236-8702 and pawsadoption.org is never closed! And thank you, as always, for your caring and support.
