Parkinson's group to explore relaxation techniques, honor caregivers
Camden — Effective ways to relax and relieve stress will be the theme of the next meeting of the area’s Parkinson’s Support Group. The meeting will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 5 from noon to 1:45 p.m. on the first floor of the Anderson Inn at Quarry Hill in Camden.
Group facilitator and clinical exercise specialist Carol Witham will describe a variety of relaxation techniques that are suitable for those with Parkinson’s and adaptable to any level of mobility. Included will be t’ai chi, Qigong, Essentrics, breathing exercises and other modalities.
Following Witham’s talk, the group will hold its annual salute to caregivers. Family members and friends who provide support to loved ones with Parkinson’s will be recognized and celebrated with a variety of treats and surprises.
Support group meetings take place regularly on the first Tuesday of each month, from noon to 1:45 p.m., at the Anderson Inn. Meetings are free and offer learning and fellowship to all those living with Parkinson’s disease as well as their loved ones and caregivers. Attendees are generally encouraged to bring bag lunches; Quarry Hill provides beverages and desserts.
