Parent workshop: Guiding good choices
Camden — St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Camden is sponsoring a free parent workshop, Guiding Good Choices, for parents of students in fifth- through eighth-grades.
The workshop will be provided by Five Town Communities That Care and will consist of five two-hour sessions that address the influence of parents in helping their kids avoid drugs and other unhealthy choices; setting guidelines, monitoring and consequences; avoiding trouble; how to say no (kids attend this session); managing conflict; and strengthening family bonds.
Five Town Communities That Care provides free dinner for the family, childcare and materials for the course. Dinners are 5:30 to 6 p.m.; the course runs 6 to 8 p.m. The dates for this session are Oct. 24 and 29; Nov. 7, 14 and 21.
Adam Kohlstrom, pastor of Chestnut Street Baptist Church, will lead the sessions.
