Rockland — Artist Susan Beebe will be helping children and their families create their own paper friends Sunday, April 27, at 1:30 p.m. at the Coastal Children’s Museum.

Not just for girls, paper doll crafts allow children to create a figure and then fashion outfits for their new friends. Children can model their doll after themselves, a family member, even the family pet and then explore all the outfits, uniforms and costumes that can be imagined. Beebe will inspire the kids to make something great with simple materials, just some paper, scissors, and their own natural creativity.

A lifelong artist, Beebe has been making paper dolls since she was 5 years old. She has published books of her characters including Klara and Fritz from the Nutcracker ballet, Natasha the ballerina, and Leopold the frog. Beebe’s website, susanbeebestudio.com shows her paper dolls, in addition to her illustrations and paintings.

The workshop is free for members and included in the price of admission for non members. Pre-registration is requested and all supplies will be provided, just bring your imagination. To sign up please call the museum located at 75 Mechanic St. in Rockland at 596-0300 or email info@coastalchildrensmuseum.org.
