Panther jayvees secure five-win campaign

Waldoboro — While the team's losses narrowly outweighed its wins in 2014, the Medomak Valley High School junior varsity baseball team saw its share of success on the diamond in the spring.

Led by coach Rusty Robinson, the Panthers finished the season 5-7 and played well against various subvarsity teams throughout the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference's Class B Division.

Team members included Adam Eutsler, Isaac Eutsler, Cameron Robinson, Patrick White, Jackson Vail, D.J. Jones, Brendon Lash, Ryan Simmons, Cameron Allaire, Jake Farriar, Ethan Swan, Owen Gilbert and Justin Bowman.

The following are recaps of reported results games:

Medomak Valley 12, Nokomis 2 (6 inns.)

At Waldoboro May 6, the Panthers roared to victory via the mercy-rule over the Warriors. Medomak Valley scored two in the first and fourth innings, seven in the third and one in the sixth, while Nokomis scored two in the fourth.

Leading the hosts at the plate were A Eutsler (2 hits), Vail (hit), I. Eutsler (hit), Robinson (2 hits), Simmons (hit), Swan (hit) and Bowman (hit).

For the visitors, M. Dyer (hit), B. Allen (hit), C. Walker (hit) and C. Hewes (hit) paced the offense.

Allaire went the distance for Medomak Valley, allowing four hits and two walks, with nine strikeouts. A. Baird and B. Allen pitched for Nokomis, allowing 10 hits and three walks, with two strikeouts.

Medomak Valley 4, Belfast 3 (8 inns.)

At Waldoboro May 2, the Panthers got a run in the bottom of the eighth inning and walked off with the win over the Lions. Medomak Valley scored one run in the first, fourth, sixth and eighth innings, while Belfast scored two in the second and one in the seventh.

Vail and Gilbert pitched for the Panthers, allowing seven hits and two walks, with eight strikeouts. B. Lowe pitched for Belfast, allowing five hits and no walks, with four strikeouts.

Leading Medomak Valley at the plate was A. Eutsler (hit), Vail (hit), Robinson (hit) and I. Eutsler (2 hits). For Belfast, T. Roberts (hit), Z. Dyer (hit), D. Wright (2 hits), B. Lowe (hit) and B. Porter (2 hits) paced the offense.

Gardiner 10, Medomak Valley 7

At Gardiner May 1, the Tigers benefited from a five-run fourth inning and bested the Panthers by three runs. Medomak Valley scored three in the third and one in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings, while Gardiner scored one in the first, second and third innings, five in the fourth and two in the sixth.

Allaire and Gilbert pitched for the Panthers, allowing 10 hits and four walks, with five strikeouts. Chasse and Richmond pitched for Gardiner, allowing seven hits and three walks, with seven strikeouts.

Leading the Panthers at the plate were A. Eutsler (double), Vail (single), I. Eutsler (single), Robinson (single, double), Lash (2 singles) and Mank (single).

For the Tigers, Griffen (single), Maschino (single), Chasse (single, double), Kelby (single, double), Jermyn (single), Richmond (single), Ortiz (single) and Pooler (single) paced the offense.

Medomak Valley 10, Oceanside 6

At Thomaston April 26, the Panthers prevailed by four runs over the Mariners. Medomak Valley scored three in the third, five in the sixth and two in the seventh, while Oceanside scored three in the first, two in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Allaire and Simmons pitched for the Panthers, allowing five hits and six walks, with eight strikeouts. Jacob Bartlett and Scott Strong pitched for Oceanside, allowing eight hits and five walks, with nine strikeouts.

Among Medomak Valley hitters were A. Eutsler (2 hits), Mank (hit), Robinson (hit), Allaire (hit), Simmons (2 hits) and White (hit).

For Oceanside, Zackary Robinson (hit), Sam Townsend (hit), Bartlett (hit), Isaiah Green (hit) and Levi Post (hit) paced the offense.
