Packard promoted prior to deployment
Jesse W. Packard of Union, son of Bill and Kathleen Packard and brother of Tera Corson, was recently promoted to lieutenant junior grade in a ceremony on the deck of the USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG81), the Bath-built ship he serves on in the U.S. Navy. It was a great honor for his dad to pin one bar on his lapel while the captain of the Churchill pinned the other.
Packard graduated from Medomak Valley High School, and earned an associates degree from Ohio Technical College and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology from the University of Maine. He and his wife, Emily, live in Norfolk with their daughter Sierra.
The day after his promotion, Lt. JG Packard and the crew of the Churchill left on a nine-month deployment to Europe and the Middle East.
