P.A.W.S: Personality Picks of the Week
If we were given the choice of three words to describe Leeman, the boxer mix who is our Personality Pick of the Week, they would be playful, goofy and affectionate. Fortunately, there are a lot more words for all the things he is: This fellow will play with his shadow, roll a ball and murder a squeaky toy. But his all-time favorite thing to do is go on car rides and hang his head out the window. Leeman, who came to us two months ago, is crazy about people and would love a home of his own. He’s been very patient and understanding, but there are times when we know from the puzzled look on his face that he’s wondering why his someone hasn’t come for him yet. He is a splendid and special dog, and we’re pretty sure there are people out there who deserve him.
Carmela is another of our very special residents. (Well, if you haven’t caught our drift yet, we think all our quadrupeds are special.) Carmela is playful and sweet, and while she dreams often of a home and people of her own, she can definitely do more than one thing at once: She likes to chase the laser light toy, bat around the toy mice and roll in cat nip. On the rare occasions when she is not playing, you can find her looking out the window or taking a cat nap.
You can see all our wonderful fur people waiting for a home 24/7 on our website at pawsadoption.org. You can also check out coming events, buy a T-shirt or learn more about us. Grab a cup of coffee, get online and pay us a visit.
Several of our local banks have volunteered to have kittens or mature cats in their lobbies four days a week. We are especially grateful to them for this — Camden National and Key, are you listening? — as many of our adoptions come through the banks. Have you ever wondered how the cats get to the bank? Do they spend the night? Do they drive themselves? Wonder no more. We have a posse of faithful volunteers who pick up our sweeties, drive them to the banks, get the cages all set up with comfy blankets and water and food and then pop ’em in. We are running a little short on volunteers, so if you think you can help us, stop in or give us a call. We can always use an extra pair of hands.
On our wish list is non-clumping cat litter, dry cat food, canned cat food and dog toys and treats.
It’s always time for a warm thank you to the people who leave donations in the barrels at Hannaford (to say nothing of Hannaford itself). We couldn’t do what we do without your help and generosity.
Please take the time to drop by and see us and all our captivating creatures at 146 Camden St. in Rockport. We’re open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, our phone number is 236-8702 and pawsadoption.org is never closed! And thank you, as always, for your caring and support.
