P.A.W.S. Auction for the Animals at High Mountain Hall
CAMDEN – As this season of giving gathers momentum everyone is looking to find just the right balance between shopping locally, getting something special for everyone on their lists and supporting worthwhile causes. We can help! On Thursday, November 29 P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center will be holding its annual “Auction for the Animals” at High Mountain Hall on Mountain Street in Camden. This event has become the unofficial opening to Camden’s Christmas by the Sea festivities and last year it raised $10,000 to help support the mission of P.A.W.S.
“We are excited to be making some major changes to our format this year” says Lisa Dresser, Administrator at P.A.W.S. “In addition to the traditional silent auction we are happy to have the services of professional auctioneer Kaja Veilleux, from Thomaston Place Auction Gallery, for a live auction event as well. The silent auction and live auction preview will begin at 6:00 and the live auction will begin at 7:30. There is no admission fee, but everyone will be required to register for a number in order to bid on either silent or live auction items.”
Some other things to look forward to are delicious hors d’oeuvres from French & Brawn Market Place, decadent sweets made by Laugh Loud Smile Big, a gourmet coffee bar run by Foglifters Coffees, Teas & Spices and a High Mountain Hall cash bar. There will also be an Angel Tree with items the shelter can use, homemade cookie trays for purchase, and Beauty Mark Spa will be open for chair massages!
A continually growing list of items that will be available to bid on is ready for viewing on the P.A.W.S. website, www.PawsAdoption.org. We encourage everyone to go back and visit often as new items will be added on a daily basis. Some of the more unique items that will be offered this year are a pair of tickets to see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, a 3 night stay at the Latham Hotel in Philadelphia, a 1927 Jules Verne book with color plates by N.C. Wyeth and signed by Jamie Wyeth and Nicky Wyeth (grandsons of N.C.) and an illustration drawn especially for us by Jamie, a signed Eric Hopkins original print that has never been released, a gorgeous opal and diamond brooch, and a fabulous piece of fabric art entitled “Royalty” by Jude Spacks of Belfast. There will also be certificates for everything from bowling to movies to meals, and items donated by local businesses and artisans.
For more information on the auction, or to donate an item to be included, please contact Lisa Dresser at P.A.W.S. at 236-8702. In the meantime, mark your calendars for Thursday, November 29 from 6 to 9 p.m. at High Mountain Hall in Camden for the annual P.A.W.S. “Auction for the Animals”!
