As of March, P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center expanded its service area to include the town of Swanville.  P.A.W.S. currently has contracts with eight other towns:  Belfast, Camden, Islesboro, Liberty, Lincolnville, Northport, Rockport, and Searsmont.

As a contracting town, stray dogs and cats found in Swanville will be cared for by P.A.W.S. If you have found a stray animal please contact your Animal Control Officer or local Police Department.  If your pet is missing please contact P.A.W.S.  Residents of contracting town also receive preference if they need to relinquish their animal and are eligible for a low cost spay neuter program.

Since its establishment in 1974 as the Camden-Rockport Rescue League, the adoption center has been able to grow to meet the needs of its surrounding communities.  It was eventually renamed P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center (Pets Are Worth Saving) to reflect its expanded region and mission.

In addition to providing a safe and caring environment for homeless cats and dogs, P.A.W.S. promotes humane education through community outreach.  More information about the adoption center and its services can be found online at www.pawsadoption.org or by calling 207-236-8702.
