Owls Head Day is Sept. 22
Owls Head — Explore Owls Head on Saturday, Sept. 22 from noon to 5 p.m. The second annual Open House Day for the town of Owls Head has been expanded to include the entire loop around the town.
Start out at the Breakwater Vineyard at the beginning of Ash Point Drive. Next, stop at the beautifully styled Ash Point Inn down the road. Knox County Regional Airport will be open; watch planes come and go. The airport houses Blue Yonder Gift Shop. Also at the airport is the Avian Café; grab a snack or a quick lunch.
Toward the end of Ash Point Drive is an old homestead that was lovingly restored by the Mussel Ridge Historical Society.
Heading back toward the village, see the Owls Head Baptist Church on the left. There is worship service Sundays at 10:45 a.m. (Sunday School for all ages starts at 9:30).
Just over the hill is the Owls Head General Store, home of the award-winning hamburgers and other tasty treats. Grab a bite before heading down to the Ship to Shore Open House. A short walk will lead to a breathtaking view. On the way back, on North Shore Drive, visit the volunteer fire department and check out the trucks.
Open houses will be held at Breakwater Vineyard, Ash Point Inn, Knox County Regional Airport, Blue Yonder Coastal Crafts, Avian Café, Mussel Ridge Homestead, Ship to Shore, Owls Head General Store, Owls Head Light and Owls Head Fire Department.
