Otis is looking for love

Otis

Our pet pick of the week is Otis. This handsome, big fellow was found in Thomaston. He was pretty beat up and very skittish and scared. He must not have been used to living on the streets. Otis is all healed now and is doing great. He is still a little shy, but boy does he love to be loved. He's had enough drama in his life and would like a quiet home where he can enjoy the outside from the comfort of his window bed.

It's animal week at the Thomaston Public Library and we'll be there to help celebrate. Join Grace McMullen, PMHSKC Outreach Coordinator, Friday, July 11, at the library from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. She'll be there to read some books, share some animal safety tips, talk about the shelter and introduce children to a few of the shelter animals available for adoption.

We'd like to welcome the Flower Goddess on Main Street in Thomaston as our newest satellite adoption location. Satellite adoption sites are local businesses who open their doors and storefronts to showcase adoptable animals giving them greater visibility throughout our community while providing an opportunity for more lives to be saved as they free up much needed space in the shelter itself. In 2013, more than 100 cats and small mammals found loving homes through our partnerships with these local businesses: Camden National Bank, Loyal Biscuit Company, Pet Quarters, Salty Dog Salon, and All Creatures Veterinary Hospital. Interested in becoming a satellite location? Contact Theresa at manager@hskcme.org.

Time is running out to get your pet's picture in our 2015 Wall Calendar. Each year, the PMHSKC proudly presents a colorful, full-sized 12-month wall calendar celebrating our beloved pets. All proceeds from the submission fees and sale of these beautiful calendars support the shelter’s vital programs and services. Submit your pets photo today! We have Glamour Shots (full-sized photo for entire month) or Tailwaggers (month date space) available. You will automatically receive a free 2015 calendar. Advertising opportunities are also available. Deadline is Friday, Aug. 1. Hurry, time and spaces are running out. Pick up a submission form at the shelter or online at hskcme.org. Questions? Contact calendar@hskcme.org
