On Saturday, Feb. 2, Rock City Cade's Velvet Lounge will present The Other Bones from 5 to 7 p.m. The Other Bones is a Portland-based trio featuring Andrew Mead on synth, guitar and production; Eric Bruce on guitar; and Loretta Allen on vocals and synth. The group embraces contemporary electronic production while featuring soulful vocals and powerful rock guitars to create a unique blend of sounds. While finding it difficult to draw comparisons to the band's sound, one reviewer commented that the band is "Adele meets The XX" while others have made comparisons to MGMT, Kimbra and Passion Pit.

As usual there is no cover charge; however, tipping the musicians is highly encouraged. For more information on this and other events happening at the coffeebar/cafe, call 594-4123.
