Waldoboro — The third annual Dustin J. Osier Memorial Alumni Basketball Games will be Saturday, Dec. 28 in the Medomak Valley High School gymnasium.

The event will include three Panther alumni games, which begin with a women's contest at 5 p.m., a men's event at 6 p.m. and an older alumni battle at 7 p.m.

The games are in memory of Osier, a MVHS three-sport student-athlete, who died in an automobile accident Aug. 19, 2011.

Money raised goes to college scholarships for MVHS graduates.

“We are so appreciative of all of the support and love during this time of year, when the community attends this event in honor of our son," said Lisa and John Osier, Dustin's parents, in a statement. "We can’t thank people enough for your generosity and support to make this event a successful one."

Missy Dean, who organizes the basketball games, added, "I am so proud to be a part of this community. Over the past two years, we have been able to raise over $11,000 in college scholarships for MVHS students/graduates as they pursue their secondary education. Not only does this event impact MVHS students, but it is a way to bring us all together to remember Dustin and continue to keep his spirit and memory alive."

If interested in playing in any of the games, call Dean at 975-2353 or email her at
