Ordination of Leland Philbrick

By Aldersgate United Methodist Church | Mar 28, 2014

Aldersgate is privileged to be hosting the ordination service for Leland Philbrick, pastor of a new ministry called Christ's Lighthouse, located on the corner of Union and Summer Streets in Rockland. Their congregation is focused on meeting the concrete needs of people in the Midcoast community. They are networking between churches, helping organizations and public agencies to provide assistance to the hungry, homeless, and others in need.

Mr. Philbrick, has received his Master of Divinity degree from Bangor Theological Seminary and has completed all the requirements for ordination in his denomination. His Association has been seeking a place to hold his ordination service and I felt moved to offer the Aldersgate space as a gesture of unity with this fledgling fellowship.

It will be held on Saturday, April 5 at 1pm. I hope Aldersgate folk will take this opportunity to support another community dedicated to mission in Christ and that we might be able to access some of their resources as we reach out to our shared community.

This is also an excellent opportunity for us as United Methodists, who ordain our clergy at far away Conference sessions, to experience another way of setting aside persons for ordained ministry.

Please plan to share in the service if possible and celebrate this landmark event with soon-to-be Pastor Leland Philbrick!
