Waldoboro — Jack O'Mara will talk about his book “Whitewater Opera: Death Comes to the Allagash” Sunday, July 27, at 4 p.m. at Old Number Nine, the storefront at 9 Friendship St./Route 220 in the village.

The book has been called a fascinating tale of a remote Maine adventure. O'Mara has a passion for the outdoors and for fly fishing, in particular. His other passion is for education. While serving as principal at Miller Elementary School from 1988 to 1995, "Mr. Mara" led the school to new heights, winning the National School of Excellence Blue Ribbon in a Rose Garden ceremony at the White House in 1994.

This author event, free and open to the public, is sponsored by MAP, the Medomak Arts Project, a new community-based nonprofit public benefit pending corporation. Light refreshments will be served, and voluntary contributions will be welcome. For more information, call 832-5109 or visit MAP on Facebook.
