Offered for sale for the first time in 2 decades, this lovely 75 + Acre farm is located only 3 MILES to downtown Belfast Waterfront! Lovely 10 room farmhouse with the warmth and charm of old. Barn, tractor shed, & other outbuildings. Approximately 81 wooded acres, 25 pasture and open field acres. Below is some history of this beautiful farm, known as Olde Fiddler's Green! This could be a once in a lifetime so don't let it pass you by!

Captain David Kennedy bought this farm back in the 70s.  He was a ships pilot and a musician who loved playing the fiddle.  Gordon Bok, the folk musician from Camden, was one his best friends and Bok and Kennedy hosted many late night hootenanys here.  The original logo for Fiddlers Green Farm features a ship's anchor and a fiddle, and a ceramic tile on the kitchen counter features that logo.

More importantly, Kennedy was one the original Maine pioneers when it comes to organic farming.  He became quite well known in that regard, as evidenced by a Down East Magazine article in 1984 (available upon request).  He raised organic wheat here on the farm, and milled it here.  His original grind stones were set up in the barn.  He died unexpectedly while flying his plane down the Penobscot River in fog.  He crashed the plane near the Waldo Hancock Bridge. The farm was placed in that trust with a supply of money to keep things going.  The trustees were charged with finding a farming couple who would "carry on the tradition" of raising and milling organic wheat here at Fiddler's Green Farm.  Eventually, the Trustees transferred the farm to Richard Stander and Nancy Galland in circa 1988.    There are still some of David Kennedy's old wooden signs on the property, which are quite neat.

Folks will enjoy knowing the rich history of organic farming that this farm is famous for.  MOFGA would not exist today without David Kennedy paving the way here in Waldo County in a pretty dramatic way.  Who would think that you could raise wheat in Maine?  He proved it could be done, and he must have been one the first farmers nationwide to raise and merchandise organic wheat and grain products....
