Waldoboro — Old Number Nine, a lovely and venerable building on Friendship Street/Route 220 in the village, is open for business. The business intends to provide a public benefit by offering space for artists, musicians, writers, students, teachers, poets, filmmakers, yoga and pop-up-style events for a day, a weekend or more.

A live jazz and art show started the ball rolling over Memorial Day weekend. On Waldoboro Day — Saturday, June 21 — there will be an open house with historic photographs of the community. On Saturday, July 12, and the following weekend, artists Peter Parnall and Chris Augusta will show their art.
