Odeon Winter Concert postponed

Dec 16, 2013
The Odeon Winter Concert will feature local music students of all ages.

Rockport — Due to another predicted snowstorm, Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School has postponed its Odeon Winter Concert, originally scheduled for Tuesday night, Dec. 17, to Tuesday, Jan. 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the Rockport Opera House, 6 Central St.

This free concert, sponsored by Camden National Bank, will feature the school’s Odeon Ensembles, which include the Odeon Allegro, Symphony and Adult Orchestra. The ensembles are led by conductor Deirdre McClure. Music students of all ages will perform popular works in this annual winter concert for all to enjoy.

Originally founded in 2000, the Odeon Youth Orchestra merged with Bay Chamber Concerts in 2006 and since has expanded its offerings to include opportunities in ensembles for all ages and abilities. The Odeon Ensembles present two free public performances per year.

The mission of the Odeon Ensembles is threefold. The first is to offer musicians opportunities to play in a variety of ensemble settings including full orchestra, chamber ensembles, and also performance as soloists. Secondly, Bay Chamber Music School students are given the opportunity to develop musical skills necessary for ensemble play. Lastly, the students are given the opportunity to perform orchestral and other string works in concert hall settings each spring and winter.

For more information about the Odeon Ensembles program or any of Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School’s offerings, contact Joan Kulle at 236-2823 or visit baychamberconcerts.org.
