Oceanside, Belfast head to drama state finalSearsport alternate in Class B
The 2013 Maine Drama Festival one-act play competition’s regionals were held March 8 and 9 at nine locations around the state. All but one of the Midcoast schools competing did so at the Midcoast Regional, hosted by Oceanside High School in Rockland. When the judges were through tabulating their results there, the host school came out the winner in Class A.
Meanwhile, at the Eastern Regional at Mount Desert Island High School, Belfast Area High School won first place in Class A, the class for schools with more than 550 students. Both schools’ troupes will go to the Class A state finals Friday and Saturday, March 22 and 23, at Camden Hills Regional High School in Rockport.
Named alternates at the Midcoast Regional — i.e., second place and the schools that would go to the finals should the first place schools be unable to — were Auburn’s Edward Little High School in Class A and Searsport District High School in Class B. Class B finals will be held at Freeport High School.
