'Notorious' on library screen
Thomaston — Friends of the Thomaston Public Library presents its Friday Night Film Series with screenings Fridays at 6:30 p.m. in the community room of Thomaston Public Library in the Thomaston Academy Building, 60 Main St./Route 1. March showcases movies directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
The Mar. 15 film is "Notorious," a 102-minute film from 1946. In this riveting World War II drama, the daughter (Ingrid Bergman) of a convicted traitor is hired by an American secret agent (Cary Grant) to go undercover and find German scientists hiding in Brazil. To prove her loyalty to America, she agrees to marry her father’s former Nazi conspirator (Claude Rains), even though she has fallen in love with the American secret agent. Suspenseful, and sweepingly romantic, "Notorious" is a vintage Hitchcock classic.
Friday Night Films are open to the public and free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted. Light refreshments will be served. The Thomaston Academy building is handicapped accessible from the rear entrance. If there is any question about the movie being canceled due to weather, call ahead to the library at 354-2453 for updates.
