'North by Northwest' a classic thriller
Thomaston — Friends of the Thomaston Public Library presents its Friday Night Film Series with screenings Fridays at 6:30 p.m. in the community room of Thomaston Public Library in the Thomaston Academy Building, 60 Main St./Route 1. March showcases movies directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
The March 22 film is "North by Northwest," a 136-minute film from 1959. What if everyone around you was suddenly convinced that you were a spy? This classic from the master director stars Cary Grant as an advertising executive who is thought to be someone else and is forced to flee the authorities (helped along by Eva Marie Saint). Hitchcock's sure-handed, sometimes comic, drama pits Grant against a crop duster and lands him in a fight for his life on Mount Rushmore — a true cliffhanger if ever there was one.
Friday Night Films are open to the public and free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted. Light refreshments will be served. The Thomaston Academy building is handicapped accessible from the rear entrance. If there is any question about the movie being canceled due to weather, call ahead to the library at 354-2453 for updates.
