No injuries reported in Hope rollover
Hope — There were no injuries reported following a single-vehicle rollover crash on Route 17 in Hope, Friday, July 13. Both the driver and passenger of the Ford pick-up truck were treated at the scene by Union Ambulance crews and declined transport to the hospital.
According to Paul Spear of Knox County Sheriff's Office, the driver reportedly felt a trailer hauling a Kubota tractor starting to shift. Spear said the driver reportedly "tried to compensate" for the shift by using the pick-up truck but was unsuccessful. The truck, trailer and tractor traveled for a short distance in the ditch before the truck returned to the roadway, overturning on its side and spilling the tractor off the trailer into the ditch.
"This was a simple property damage accident," Spear said, adding he does not anticipate any charges will be filed.
The driver of the vehicle declined to speak with The Camden Herald as he observed the ongoing clean-up.
Traffic on Route 17 was reduced to one lane for more than an hour as Hope Fire Department cleaned up diesel fuel that leaked from the pick-up. Fire Chief Clarence Keller said the diesel spill was contained to the pavement.
