No. 1, unbeaten Windjammers, Mariner girls serve up May 16 court victories

Medoman Valley girls, Oceanside boys come up empty as postseason looms on horizon

It was a busy day on the tennis courts for Midcoast high school squads, with a mixed bag of results served up for Oceanside, Medomak Valley and Camden Hills on Tuesday, May 16.

The Windjammers remained unbeaten with 3-2 victories over Morse of Bath, while the Mariners split with Winslow, as the girls won 3-2 and the boys lost 3-0.

The same day, the Panther girls also lost 5-0 to Waterville.

Girls tennis

Oceanside 3, Winslow 2

At Winslow May 16, the Mariners edged the Black Raiders.

The individual results, with Oceanside players listed first, were: In singles, Gabby Simmons lost to Kate Larson, 6-4, 4-6, 2-6; Molly Davis lost to Emily Manocchio, 2-6, 4-6; and Cassidy Boynton beat Samantha Decker, 6-2, 6-6 (7-4).

In doubles, Emma Lee and Jasmine Bouchard beat Susan Grant and Juliann Lapierre, 6-2, 6-3; and Meredith Mitchell and Erin Dugan beat Danielle Berard and Elizabeth Farnham, 6-1, 6-4.

In the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class B North, Oceanside (5-4, 32.5000 points) is seventh, while Camden Hills (8-0, 106.3889 points) is first in the 15-team region. The top 11 teams qualify for the playoffs.

Camden Hills 3, Morse 2

At Bath May 16, the Windjammers

The individual results, with Camden Hills players listed first, were: In singles, Naomi Landry lost to Arielle Leeman, 1-6, 0-6; Sophia Landry lost to Aliza Johnson, 2-6; 5-7; and Kassie Krul beat Penelope Shields, 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Charlotte Messer and Julia Holt beat Madeline Skroski and Haley Gellatly, 6-0, 6-1; and Kelsie Merrill and Claire Pierce beat Elsa Bertlesman and Aria French, 6-1, 6-4.

In exhibitions, Chloe Fordyce and Kaylyn Krul beat Naomi Cummings and Julie Cliffe, 8-0; Ella Pierce and Alison Linares beat Christine Bowman and Anica Flaming, 8-3; and Kasey Wood and Meredith Luce beat Delaney Young and Leah Totman, 9-8.

In the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class B North, Camden Hills (8-0, 106.3889 points) is first in the 16-team region. The top 11 teams qualify for the playoffs.

The Windjammers are 9-0 but Tuesday's win over Morse is not included in the standings.

Waterville 5, Medomak Valley 0

At Waterville May 16, the Purple Panthers defended their home court with ease as they bested the Panthers.

The individual results, with Medomak Valley players listed first, were: In singles, Maggie Ryan lost to Samantha Saulter, 1-6, 1-6; Hannah Smith lost to Maggie Brock, 0-6, 0-6; and Jessie Hugh lost to Clio Bazakas, 1-6, 1-6.

In doubles, Chelsea Ripley and Molly Taylor lost to Sofia Weston and Mackenzie St. Pierre, 1-6, 4-6; and Serena Poland and Katie Ryan lost to Nora Greene and Lauren Smith, 0-6, 4-6.

In the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class B North, Medomak Valley (1-7, 0.8333 points) is 14th, while Camden Hills (8-0, 78.1944 points) is first in the 16-team region. The top 11 teams qualify for the playoffs.

Boys tennis

Camden Hills 3, Morse 2

At Rockport May 16, the Windjammers remained unbeaten as they navigated past the Shipbuilders.

The individual results, with Camden Hills players listed first, were: In singles, Matt Morse lost to Thomas Jarmusz, 5-7, 7-5, 9-11; Colby Arau lost to Matthew Jarmusz, 3-6, 5-7; and Charlie O’Brien beat Lucas Brown, 6-3, 6-0.

In doubles, Noah Heidorn and Cooper Russell beat Alex Fernald and Grayson Peterson, 6-1, 6-0; and Simon Fedarko and David Poutasse beat Collin McCarthy and Carey Klein, 6-4, 6-1.

In the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class B North, Camden Hills (8-0, 78.1944 points) is first in the 16-team region. The top 11 teams qualify for the playoffs.

Winslow 3, Oceanside 0

At Rockland May 16, the Black Raiders blanked the undermanned Mariners.

The individual results, with Oceanside players listed first, were: In singles, Abe LeMole lost to Jake Lapierre, 1-6, 4-6; Carter Fogarty lost to Josh Vashon, 1-6, 0-6; and Mitchell DelFrate lost to Matt Brown, 3-6, 0-6.

Oceanside also lost by forfeit at first and second doubles.
