New Year’s By The Bay, on the way

Dec 10, 2013

Belfast — New Year’s By The Bay is gearing up for the 17th annual chem-free, family-friendly celebration that will take place at venues all around the city Tuesday, Dec. 31.

Buttons available now

One button admits the wearer to all New Year’s By The Bay performances and activities; food purchases are separate. Cost is $18; $5 for K-12 students; and free for those younger than 5. Buttons are available in advance at the downtown Parent Gallery (which morphs into the event’s HQ on Dec. 31) and Belfast Co-op; the Hannaford service desk; Comfort Inn Ocean’s Edge on Route 1/3; and at nybb.org. Buttons purchased online (via PayPal, through Dec. 30) may be picked up at HQ between noon and 8 p.m. on the 31st.

Call for volunteers

From 2 p.m. to midnight Dec. 31, more than 100 volunteers, teens to senior citizens, will be needed for two-and-a-half hour shifts each to help out with the downtown entertainment venues where the performances take place. It is fun, indoors “work” and each volunteer receives a free NYBB admission button. Anyone, including couples, families and groups of friends, interested in volunteering is encouraged to contact Mary Mortier at 323-1748 or marym@92-94main.com.
