New Oceanside Theatre sets auditions
Rockland — This summer, the new Oceanside Theatre will present Broadway’s “Jekkyl and Hyde” as a community theater production. The show is directed by Alison Machaiek, drama director at Oceanside High School.
“Year after year, former students return to high school productions and tell us how much they miss performing here; not just college kids, but adults as well. It’s our intent to create a multi–generational theater experience for the community at large, not just former students,” she said.
Auditions will be held Thursday, May 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oceanside East, 400 Broadway. All students entering 11th grade through adults are invited to audition. Anyone planning to audition needs to be prepared to sing in an open audition forum. Those interested in serving on the tech crew should attend the first 15 minutes of the audition for information.
Vocal director for the show is Barbara Hendricks, and Marlene Hall will conduct the pit band. Performance dates for “Jekkyl and Hyde” are July 18, 19, 25, 26 and 27.
