New Facebook Timeline Part Deux
There’s a new Facebook timeline being tested for the New Year. How many times has Facebook changed the layout of profiles in the last 12 months you ask? This is another major update. So if you’re like the rest of us and you just figured out how to use the updated timeline layout from way back in 2012… Here’s a whole new timeline to puzzle over and adjust privacy settings on.
The new layout for Profile pages shows timeline updates along the left side and thumbnail collections based on profile and third-party activities on the right.
To see a screenshot of the new layout on my profile click here.
The category windows that stream down the right-hand side of the new timeline are:
- Recent Activity
- Likes (Pages)
- Likes (Stories)
- Following (Recent follows)
- Questions (Recent polls)
- Other Third-Party apps that connect to Facebook
The display of recent posts still appears on both the left and right sides of the new timeline, similarly to the update from 2012. The difference is, the posts on the right side appear only after the category thumbnails on the right hand display. All of these categories are optional and can be edited to reflect what the user desires to promote to followers. It is still possible to highlight posts, however highlighted posts that appear above the right-hand side category line will appear in a standard format instead of the full two section wide highlight that was available in the previous update.
